The Beginning
Design Crisis started as a group of friends who met at college in 2003, where we took our first steps into the world of kayaking. Since then Design Crisis has taken many different paths, finally leading us to where we are now – a small group of independant kayakers and outdoor people with common goals.
The Present
As we have all grown up and gone our seperate ways, Design Crisis has had to adapt and is now primarily the sole preserve of Jonny Briggs and Tom Woodstone. This is not a reflection on the others, more a geographical issue. However, we do of course keep in touch with friends old and new, and Liam Kirkham in particular has made major contributions to Design Crisis, as he will continue to do so.
The Future
Presently, we are working on a couple of short videos that we hope to air later in the year, at a few kayaking events and film festivals. Tom has also started recording his paddling antics in some random format with a view to perhaps one day producing his own guidebook to whitewater Yorkshire Kayaking. We also hope to spread our wings a bit, and really get our teeth into some fantastic water further afield, although with so much quality paddling in our backyard we wonder why…!
For now, keep checking back for our latest news and videos.
As ever, we would love to hear from you, so if you fancy meeting up for a paddle or a beer, give Tom a shout on tom@designcrisis.co.uk.
